During their visit to Alnwick Garden, Mary Astell pupils had the opportunity to practice their social and life skills through a couple of tailored activities. First, they entered the Treehouse Cafe, where they were taught how to use the coffee machine and serve drinks to their peers and staff. This allowed them to become confident in taking people's orders and remembering them. They also served scones to one another, and then, of course, were able to eat them.

The pupils also greeted members of the public in one of the entrances to the main gardens. They stood with information leaflets and directed visitors where to go once they entered. There was also a jam taster stand, which the pupils stood at and manned, allowing visitors to taste the different flavours and see if they wanted to purchase any during their visit.

What a great visit, well done everyone!
