Kayaking at Chester-le-Street

The pupils at Mary Astell Academy had an amazing time taking part in a kayaking session in Chester-le-Street, which was a brand-new experience for everyone involved. Although many were a little nervous at first, they quickly found their confidence and showed brilliant resilience as the day went on.

It was fantastic to see them learning new skills like paddling, steering, and balancing on the water, all while working together and encouraging one another.

The instructors were full of praise for the group, commenting on how polite, enthusiastic, and well-behaved the pupils were throughout the session. They were especially impressed by how quickly everyone picked things up and how supportive they were of each other. It was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and personal achievements, with many pupils saying it was one of the best things that they had ever done.

This kind of experience was so invaluable, not just for learning practical skills but for building confidence, trying something new, and making great memories together. Everyone at Mary Astell Academy was incredibly proud of how well everyone represented the school.
