KS3 Science Investigations

This week, KS3 pupils have been learning about photosynthesis by beginning an investigation into starch in leaves during their Science lessons. The pupils explored how plants make and store food by preparing leaves ready for testing with iodine solution.

As part of the experiment, pupils placed frames onto strawberry plant leaves today to cover specific areas. These frames will block light from reaching parts of the leaf, allowing pupils to observe the effects of light deprivation over time. The leaves will be tested next week to see where starch has formed and where it has not.
