Andrea Spowart Appointed as Headteacher of Mary Astell Academy

Prosper Learning Trust are happy to report the appointment of Andrea Spowart to the position of Headteacher at Mary Astell Academy, advancing from the position of Head of School following a leadership restructure.

Andrea trained at Leeds Trinity University to be a Secondary Technology teacher.  After graduating, she taught in middle and secondary schools in Bradford holding a variety of successful leadership positions, including supporting schools to be removed from special measures. Andrea relocated back to the North East in 2009 and held senior leadership positions at three secondary academies in Durham, before being appointed as Head of School at Mary Astell Academy.

When asked about her new appointment, Andrea said

“It is a real honour to be appointed as the Headteacher of Mary Astell Academy.  Having been Head of School for the last five years, I am very proud of everything we have achieved.  I am passionate about ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to succeed and I advocate for young people and their families in the North East. I am thrilled to be continuing to lead Mary Astell Academy forward to even greater success.”
