Key Stage 3 pupils visited SafetyWorks, an interactive safety centre that partners with the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, along with other organisations. The centre works to provide safety education and resources to the community.
During their visit, pupils explored risky behaviour in depth, looking at what could happen if dangerous actions are taken. These situations included water safety and cold water shock, along with the dangers of travelling by Metro.
They also discussed anti-social behaviour and fire safety, ensuring that pupils were aware of how quickly a fire can spread and the risks of people starting fires. Then, community safety, such as peer pressure and walking down dark lanes alone, alcohol consumption awareness, and misjudgement were examined.
