This Sunday (22nd January) is Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the Rabbit - the date changes from year to year because it follows an ancient farmer calendar which is based on phases of the moon. Pupils in Year 10 and 11 have been learning about how people in China celebrate this special occasion. In class we have looked at how Chinese people prepare for New Year, what happens on New Year’s Eve and how New Year’s Day is celebrated including certain gifts you can and must not send! Ask your child for more details…. In the kitchen we have looked at traditional Chinese recipes eaten at New Year and had a go at preparing and making our own dish. We even made a display of our findings and pictures of our successful outcomes!
