Rewards can be used as positive incentive to improve behaviour over time. At the end of each term we have a trip off site to a place the pupils decide on. This trip is only available to those that have long term positive behaviour with few negatives and a good attendance, pupils must have at least 85% positives to attend. These positives are tracked on class charts, a website used to monitor student behaviour within classes and around school that all members of staff can access. Class charts allows us to track basic class expectations which we expect to see within our pupils, such as being safe, punctual, respectful and willing to learn.

Following our examination of class charts, students were selected to attend the end of term trip, during which they decided where to visit; this term the pupils decided on Mr mulligans crazy golf in Newcastle. As a further acknowledgment of excellent behaviour, pupils are also treated to a McDonalds on their return to school.

The pupils all enjoyed mini golf and whist they we’re quite competitive they also praised each other when someone got an impressive shot such as a hole in one. For some it was their first time going mini golfing but other pupils explained the rules and gave advice so no one felt left out. The overall winner of the day was a pupil who managed the impressive feat of winning both courses. On the way back to Mary Astell we stopped off at McDonalds where everyone was treated to a meal, everyone including pupils and staff sat down and enjoyed the meal before heading back to school for the last few lessons of the day.
