Pink and Blue Day for The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust

Monday 22nd May 2023 was the sad anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack. Scott Rutherford here at Mary Astell Academy sadly lost his sister Chloe and her boyfriend Liam at the arena event.

Out of this tragedy has grown the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust whose mission is “To Inspire and Support Others to Achieve and Reach Their Full Potential Through the Love of Sport and Performance.” This is mainly done by giving grants to young people living in the North East from the Trust.

To support this amazing Trust we decided to have a Pink and Blue Day in our school. The event was fully supported by all staff and pupils. The most notable event was the Bake Sale! One student went above and beyond with the fund raising. James from Mr Hancock’s class in the In Reach Department raised an incredible £380 through fundraising amongst friends and family. This was an amazing achievement, and we are all very proud of James. Notably, he raised the money in a very short space of time. To add to this figure, staff and students at Mary Astell Academy raised £355 as well, for a total of £735! All money raised is now part of this legacy which can help change a young person’s life.
