During Art lessons, Key Stage 3 have been investigating different art materials and mark-making techniques. The topic was nature with references to the work of the wall paper artist William Morris. The images were built up over several lessons from simple brushstrokes for the flower petals and leaves using ready-mix paint. Next, controlling water and brusho powder to create veins and the centres. The following stage was to select stencils, sketch, and outline butterflies and bees; these were painted using inKtence inks over layered with metallic watercolours. The final stage was to bring the image together with a bright ink background.
