The Great Outdoors

Each week the students of InReach travel to Moor House Adventure Centre in Houghton-Le-Spring for a number of exciting and educational activities. As a group they experience team building exercises, hone their skills in bushcraft and engage in and interesting outdoor games. The students have learned to tie complicated knots, safely light fires, and engineer large wooden structures using only rope and wooden poles.

In their sessions every Monday and Tuesday the students have enjoyed spending time taking in the fresh air of in the great outdoors, facing their fears on the high wires, conquering the complicated Cube, and channelling their inner Robin Hood while learning to shoot a bow and arrow! Mary Astell Academy students and staff thoroughly enjoy these trips and the range of activities on offer, having new things to try each week, most recently the Cave Bus, a cave simulation maze and frisbee golf.

We are grateful for the opportunity to take our students from Mary Astell to Moor House and look forward to the trip each week.
